Illinois State University - Junior High Band Camp

Sunday, June 25–Friday, June 30

We welcome you to the campus of Illinois State University for the 2023 Junior High Band Camp. This camp is specifically designed for middle-level concert band musicians to enrich their understanding of music in an enjoyable, non-competitive and positive week-long program. In addition to rehearsals in the large ensembles, students will take part in sectionals, instrument specific master classes, and evening activities. The program will conclude with a band performance that is free and open to the public.

Registration

For students entering grades 6-9 in the 2023-2024 school year. All participants must have one year of playing experience

Fee
$400 for Commuter campers
$600 for Resident campers (includes room and board)
**Lunch is included for commuter campers. They will have the option to stay for dinner and evening activities.

Participation Details
Approximately three weeks prior to the start of the program, participants will receive details about what to pack, arrival, parking, check-in, the daily schedule, and more.

Daily Schedule Overview

  • Sunday, June 25:

    3 p.m.to 6:30 p.m. – Registration
    6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. – Camp Orientation Meeting

    7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. – First Rehearsal

  • Monday, June 26–Thursday, June 29:

    8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Daily Rehearsals, Masterclass, Sectionals
    7 p.m. to 9 p.m. – Evening Activities

  • Friday, June 30:

    5 p.m. – Final Concert

Process and Deadlines

A $100 deposit is required to complete registration.
$400 is due by Friday, May 12.
Please note: No refunds will be issued after May 12.
Residential payment in full is due by Wednesday, June 7.

If students are receiving a scholarship or other forms of external funding, we ask that those payments be sent to ISU Bands prior to the June 7 deadline. Payments may be made online through the registration system, or checks may be made to ISU Bands and mailed to:
